Terms and Conditions
By booking a trek or experience with Waimapu Mill Station, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
Participation Requirements
Riders must be a minimum age of 12 years for standard treks, unless otherwise arranged in writing.
Riders under 18 years must have a parent or guardian sign the booking form and consent to their participation.
We have a weight limit of 110kg for the welfare of our horses — please confirm your weight at booking.
All participants must disclose any medical conditions, recent injuries, or disabilities that may affect their ability to ride safely.
Safety & Rider Conduct
All participants must follow the instructions of our guides at all times.
Helmets must be worn while mounted. We provide approved helmets.
Appropriate footwear (closed-toe shoes with a small heel) and comfortable clothing are required. We will provide footwear to those that need it.
No alcohol or recreational drugs may be consumed before or during the ride.
Working Farm Environment
Waimapu Mill Station is an operational farm. You may encounter uneven ground, electric fences, farm machinery, livestock, working dogs, and other hazards associated with a rural working environment.
Guests must not touch or feed any animals (other than those instructed by guides) or handle any farm equipment.
Please remain with your guide at all times and do not enter restricted areas without permission.
Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Risks & Liability
Horse trekking and cattle work involve inherent risks, including but not limited to falling, collisions, or unpredictable behaviour from horses or cattle.
The working farm environment also carries risks such as slips, trips, or contact with animals, plants, or equipment.
By participating, you acknowledge these risks and accept full responsibility for your own safety.
Waimapu Mill Station, its owners, and staff will take all reasonable precautions but accept no liability for injury, loss, or damage arising from participation, except where required by law.
Health & Fitness
You must be physically able to mount, ride, and dismount a horse without assistance beyond what is normally provided by our guides.
Please notify us in advance if you require additional support so we can assess whether the activity is suitable.
We reserve the right to refuse a rider based on a concern of lack of health or fitness that could cause potential risk to either the rider/riders or horses welfare.
Bookings, Payment & Cancellation
Full payment is required to confirm a booking.
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before your ride will receive a full refund.
Cancellations within 48 hours of your ride are non-refundable unless we cancel due to weather or safety concerns.
In the event of poor weather or unforeseen circumstances, we may reschedule your ride or issue a refund at our discretion.
Property & Behaviour
Please respect our property, animals, and environment at all times.
Littering, reckless behaviour, or cruelty towards animals will result in immediate termination of the ride with no refund.
Photography & Media
We may take photos or videos during your experience for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be included, please inform us before your ride begins.
